About 40 Hour Famine
World Vision Australia started the 40 Hour Famine in 1975, to raise money to help children, their families and communities in desperate need. 38 years on the 40 Hour Famine is bigger than ever. Each year around 300,000 Australians take part. The funds raised every year by the 40 Hour Famine continue to support World Vision’s work tackling the causes of poverty, through both short-term solutions and long-term development projects. We believe that people like you hold the key to freeing the world from poverty. By doing the 40 Hour Famine, you are part of a movement of Australians who are willing to take action against hunger!
Origin of 40 Hour Famine
The 40 hour famine originated from Jesus' temptation. He fasted 40 days and 40
nights. The devil tempted him with all different things. And when he had
finished he was famished.
